Moviehole reported that John Cusack and Hilary Duff will team for Writer/director Mark Roper’s new film, “Talking to Dog”.

Described as a cross between “Mad Max” and “Blue Velvet”, the film – from Remstar Distribition; out of Canada – is set in a post apocalyptic future where man has suffered the wrath of global warning, and woman have suffered the inability to have children.

Time has stood still for two, small communities. The consequences of Global warming, the lack of fuel, power and communication, have left them in isolation. Dying has become an industry, a woman able to give birth, now only a dream. Into this environment, a young man arrives. He is able to communicate with the dead, able to learn secrets of the past. Because of his presence, the two communities learn that love, in a dying world, is still alive and that there is always hope, even over greed.

The film, set to shoot before mid-year, will also star Rodrigo Santoro, Tom Conti, Joe Anderson, Lance Henriksen and Steven Berkhoff; and is being produced by Alan Robinson and Neil Dunn.

Sounds like a bit of a hodge-podge, at least at this stage...and Hillary Duff? One assumes they've heard of CHILDREN OF MEN.
Though, it's always to good to see Steven Berkoff. Guess we'll see.

ps Great site here.

Yeah I agree, what's with the sudden surge in films where women can't have children anymore?

Thought it sounded like a good idea at first...

Ooo, another global warming movie. How topical. And lame.

Good to see the knee-jerk herd mentality extends to our entertainment industry.

The entertainment industry has never done anything but knee-jerk reactions to the hysteria of the present when it comes to prognostication. Mad Max=70s crime; Soylent Green=Global Starvation Fear; Today=Global Warming. We need something to fear to keep from being bored.
