quietearth [Celluloid 04.02.07] post apocalyptic movie news
According to SCIFI Wire:
"Screenwriter Joe Penhall has been set to adapt The Road, Cormac McCarthy's post-apocalyptic novel, for the big screen, Variety reported. The book was chosen as the latest selection of the Oprah Winfrey book club and has become a best-seller. The book was acquired last fall by producers Nick Wechsler and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz."
Not much more is known right now. I actually own this book and it's on my list, I just haven't gotten around to reading it.

I would like to hear your critique on this book Quiet Earth. I was listening to the radio last night and heard Matt Drudge comment about Oprahs endorsement of the book and she had listed the book as Oprahs pick of the month. Obviously he wasn’t happy that Oprah picked a post-apocalyptic story for a bestseller. I just ordered the book online. I figure if Oprah endorses a post-apocalyptic book as a bestseller it must be good. Hopefully your critique of the book will be favorable or at least a good read.

wilcoy, it might be a while before I can get to this, I have to read idlewild by Nick Sagan first since they sent it to me for free. (Thanks Nick & Tina!) I also have world war Z to finish, I'm half way through, always too busy..

Quiet Earth, check out this book review from the New York book review about The Road. The critic Michael Chabon goes indepth into alot of other books and movies surrounding Post apocalyptic genre and compares this book with other authors. Heres a link to check it out.

Perhaps you've already seen them, but how about some reviews of The War Game (1962), Atomic Cafe and Threads?

Philip, I am planning a revamp of the site, including more in depth reviews as well as screenshots from the movies so you can get a feel for them, and that's not all.. the problem is time.
