In keeping with our UK theme from the last post, here's a movie which is slated for release in 2008. It looks to be set in the year 2033, and it even has Malcom McDowell!
Here's the background:
In 2008, a deadly virus, dubbed "the reaper," breaks out in Glasgow and threatens all of the United Kingdom. Shortly thereafter, it becomes clear to the authorities that the only way to contain the plague is to isolate the area from the rest of the country. Martial law is declared, roadblocks set up, and curfews implemented. All communication lines with the outside world are cut, and as a final definitive measure, a wall is built following "the same line of the ancient Roman frontier 2000 years before, spanning 80 miles, east coast to west, cutting Britian in half... Those abandoned within the quarantine zone are simply left to die."
And the synopsis:
In 2033, London has become "the perfect breeding ground for a virus to take root," and when the Reaper breaks out in the old capital, the propagation rate is even higher than when it first appeared in Scotland. Sealed off from the rest of the world, Britian's major cities are dramatically overpopulated.
An elite group of specialists, captained by Eden Sinclair, is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.
