Overview:
A simple single man who lives with his cat (Chris) finds an invitation to a Halloween party on the ground. There he is unknowingly the guest of honor. Upon arriving to the party he soon discovers that his five artistic hosts have actually planned to murder him all in the name of art. Trying to impress a snobbish art aficionado they bumble around creating a funny horror/comedy where you aren't quite sure what is going to happen next. "Welcome to your murder."



The Story:
It's on the way back from renting some horror movies (on vhs no less) that Chris finds this invitation. He seems elated, but arrives home to find his pumpkin smashed. He then uses this same pumpkin to bake what ostensibly is pumpkin bread. While baking, he makes a sweet knight costume out of cardboard and duct tape, he's going all out for this party!



The five artists have planned a Halloween Party where they will murder the unsuspecting victim in an 'artistic' statement to impress Alexander, a snobbish artist who supposedly has 300,000.00 in grant money that they are all biding for. Shortly after arriving, Chris realizes that attending this party was a mistake. The artists jump him and strap him to a chair placed in the middle of a plastic painters mat. One mistake after another, lots of blood and near escapes leave you laughing and wanting to know how things can possibly end.



The Rating:
I feel that this is one of the few comedy/horror films that works. I wouldn't classify this as horror necessarily, but maybe a slasher/comedy. The gore is enjoyable and there are some really funny moments, so if you like gore and comedy this is definitely for you. That's why I give this a 7 out of 10.



In one of the scenes, an artist attempts to kill Chris right after arriving at the party with his axe. As the wolfman raises his weapon and walks up behind our main character the axe-head gets caught in the pull string of an overhanging light. So, naturally when he begins to drop the axe it turns the light on, and he can't swing. Chris sees the shadow and tries to escape, but is captured and bound to a chair. Moments like this are what made me laugh and there are several moments like it.



This is playing at the Toronto After Dark film festival, so don't miss it!
