We reported over a year ago that the BBC was in talks with the Terry Nation estate do acquire the rights to remake the cult hit Suvivors. The original series centered on a post-apocalyptic world where more then 99% of the global population was killed due to a plague. Today it was announced the BBC has acquired the rights after months of negotiation. The new show will be set in the present following a group as they fight for day-to-day survival. Reportedly it will be airing on BBC1. This is really good news for all us PA fans as everyone loved this 38-episode masterpiece.

I just finished watching seasons 1 and 2 of survivors and i'm currently watching season 3 now. I think this is the BEST post apocalyptic tv series ever. It begins with a dozen survivors who learn all over again how to survive after most of the worlds population is dead from a deadly virus. The writing by Terry Nation in season 1 is some of the best thought out PA writing i have seen on television or theater. If you can get a copy of Survivors by the BBC 1975-77 by all means do you won't be disappointed.
