quietearth [Celluloid 12.19.07] post apocalyptic movie news scifi



There's been alot of talk in the past few days about Christian Bale, who plays John Connor, not being the star of this film, and it turns out that is in fact true. He might only end up in a few scenes, although he's supposedly scheduled for a bigger role in the next one. The story rather revolves around a character named Marcus who was put out of comission (?) before the nuclear destruction on Skynet's Judgement day and wakes up about 15 years before the future we see in the original Terminator films. That makes the year about 2015 or so.

Marcus is supposedly a tough guy and the world he finds is horrifying, starvation, radiation poising, etc.. all our favorite PA stuff. Then there's John Connor whose trying to bring back some semblance of society and organize a resistance. Marcus will also be in the next 2 of the franchise, which will also include a tough leading lady. And not to be outdone, there is supposed to be some involvement from Reese from the original film!


Last but not least: "A big aspect of the story is the degrees of difference between a human and a Terminator. By which I mean cyborgs. By which I mean human brains in robot bodies."

"Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is set in the future during a full scale war between Skynet and humankind. ( There is promises of MASSIVE battles showcasing a few terminator models, huge carnage ) John Connor played by Christian Bale is now in his 30s. He and his fiance Kate Brewster watch as skynet begins to destroy all of mankind and realize they must create a resistance organization with Earth's remaining survivors to fight against the army of robots. As they are building this resistance they soon discover that one survivor is a traitor and has a dark secret that nobody would ever suspect. "
