I originally saw this in a small art house theater on the upper west side of Manhattan and was completely dumbfounded. Sitting in that small venue with a bunch of old folks, it had been explained this movie was from a former communist or something which is beyond the point, it's one of THE best gangster flicks of all time. Now we sidestep into the 21st century where every classic is being re-done, and they figure throwing in someone who hasn't had a good film in 10 years will somehow make this acceptable. I just report the news folks, and heck, at least it gives me a chance to talk about one of my favorite films of all time. Read on for more details and a trailer from the original, skedded for 2009.

"A remake of the Jules Dassin 1955 film ‘Du rififi chez les hommes’ Al Pacino starring with Harold Becker (SEA OF LOVE) directing Bo Goldman (ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST) adapting.

A career thief, just released from prison and discovering that his girl has left him for his rival, plans the ultimate jewelry heist."
