Straight of Variety comes word that Casey Affleck will be doing a period piece based on a just-published novel by Tom Epperson. Epperson will be doing the screenplay adaption when the WGA strike is over (c'mon folks hurry up!) and it's set to be produced by Sean Bailey (Gone Baby Gone). No word on who will be directing. Set in the 1930s Los Angeles, The Kind One centers on an amnesiac (Affleck) who finds himself working for a mobster, a sadistic killer given the nickname "the Kind One", and falling in love with the thug's girlfriend.
