Best known for propelling Russian genre cinema into the big time with his action fuelled, rock and roll Vampire stunner Nightwatch, Timur Bekmambetov is now primed to tear into the American action scene and bring something stylish back to a mostly lackluster and (Hellboy notwithstanding) by the numbers comic book movie industry. And whatever your prejudices may be concerning all things Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy (Atonement) is spot on as the reluctant hero of the piece, Wesley.

So for those of you who, like me, were completely disenfranchised by the giant bore that was Gens Xavier's Hitman, I think you'll find that your faith in assassin conspiracy thrillers will be restored when Wanted rips your cinemas to shreds. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to watch Nightwatch....
