It's that time again.. our picks for DVD releases tomorrow. This week we have the Oscar winner "No Country for Old Men", wow that was quick. Then Doug Buck's "Sisters" remake starring one of my personal favorites, Chloe Sevigny. Then we have some samurai action with the tv show "Zatoichi Collection 1". Next is the phenomenal looking anime "Appleseed Ex Machina" which I know many of you will dig. Then there is "Outpost", which the trailer just dropped for, it's a great looking nazi zombie flicks. We also have the British vigilante flick "Outlaw". Lastly, the film which is the best out of the lot (in my opinion), is the "Gattaca: Special Edition" disc. Trailers, synopses, and links all after the break.
No Country for Old Men
Purchase at Amazon
In rural Texas, welder and hunter Llewelyn Moss discovers the remains of several drug runners who have all killed each other in an exchange gone violently wrong. Rather than report the discovery to the police, Moss decides to simply take the two million dollars present for himself. This puts the psychopathic killer, Anton Chigurh, on his trail as he dispassionately murders nearly every rival, bystander and even employer in his pursuit of his quarry and the money. As Moss desperately attempts to keep one step ahead, the blood from this hunt begins to flow behind him with relentlessly growing intensity as Chigurh closes in. Meanwhile, the laconic Sherrif Ed Tom Bell blithely oversees the investigation even as he struggles to face the sheer enormity of the crimes he is attempting to thwart.
Sisters (remake)
Purchase at Amazon
Reporter Grace Collier (Chloe Sevigny, TV's Big Love, American Psycho) witnesses a woman committing a bizarre murder in this disturbing shocker based on Brian De Palma's 1973 classic. When police fail to find a corpse or any trace of the crime, Collier undertakes her own investigation that leads her to a mental asylum and the discovery of the mysterious woman's once-conjoined twin. Stephen Rea also stars as the twins' controlling and controversial doctor in a chilling look at the deep and sometimes psychotic bond between Sisters.
Zatoichi Collection 1
Purchase at Amazon
A threat is uttered, a blade is drawn, a flash of cold steel and then...a dozen attackers now lie silent, dispatched by the lightning sword of Zatoichi. A humble masseur and gambler, Zatoichi wanders the countryside of Japan, going from town to town plying his trade and rolling the dice. With kind heart and lethal sword skills, he is protector of the innocent and the ruin of wicked men. A pop culture icon since his screen debut in 1962, Zatoichi (played by Shintaro Katsu) was a matinee favorite throughout the 1960s. After a dozen years and 25 films, the blind swordsman transitioned to the small screen in 1974 in the series, "Zatoichi Monogatari". The first 13 episodes have been compiled in this three-volume, six -disc set.
Appleseed Ex Machina

Deunan, a young female warrior, and Briareos, a veteran cyborg-soldier, are both partners and lovers. As members of E.S.W.A.T., the elite special forces serving Olympus, they are deployed whenever trouble strikes. The two fighters find their partnership tested in a new way by the arrival of a new member to their ranks - an experimental Bioroid named Tereus.
Outpost
Purchase at Amazon
Set in war-torn Eastern Europe, a band of battle-worn mercenaries undertake a dangerous mission into a no-man’s land at the behest of a mysterious businessman. When they locate and secure a disused military bunker, they also discover a terrifying secret that has laid buried for half a century–and which they’ll have to fight to survive.
Outlaw
Purchase at Amazon A group of ordinary men form a modern day posse to right what they believe are the wrongs of society. Returning from a tour of duty in Iraq, former paratrooper Bryant (Sean Bean) is appalled by the crime that runs rampant and unchecked. Determined to do something about it, he assembles a group of like-minded men who resolve to restore the balance between good and evil by enforcing justice with a brutality equal to that of their enemies.
Gattaca: Special Edition
Purchase at Amazon
Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman, Alan Arkin and Jude Law star in this engrossing sci-fi thriller about an all-too-human man who dares to defy a system obsessed with genetic perfection. Hawke stars as Vincent, an "In-Valid" who assumes the identity of a member of the genetic elite to pursue his goal of traveling into space with the Gattaca Aerospace Corporation. However, a week before his mission, a murder marks Vincent as a suspect. With a relentless investigator in pursuit and the colleague he has fallen in love with beginning to suspect his deception, Vincent's dreams steadily unravel.

I'm looking forward to adding Gattaca to my collection. As much as I love that film, I've never bought a copy. Looks like now's the time!
