Graphic novels aren't really my bag, in fact they're a bit of a strange beast to me. Is this an admission of guilt? Well no. Between watching films, reading novels, and attempting to patch together some semblance of a social life, I figure something was bound to fall by the wayside and it just happened to be comics I guess. However, what I do know is film. I all but eat it for breakfast, so I've seen what Miller's vision has brought to the table in terms of hard edge storytelling and production design. And while people may have criticized Rodriguez's filmic translation of Sin City as being regressive and literal, it's clear that it alerted fresh filmmakers, like Zack Snyder, to the adventure and possibilities that awaited him in 300. Which brings us to Ronin, a very cool book Miller drew back in the 80s about a "masterless Samurai who gets reincarnated in a dystopic, near-future New York, populated by squatters, factions and mutants." Sounds right up our alley doesn't it? But here's the rub...

... The Hollywood reporter is claiming that it's being helmed by Sylvain White, whose last film, Stomp the Yard, didn't exactly make me run to the theater. But maybe with Joby Harold (Awake) pushing the pen on it it'll find its footing. To be frank (ha, get it?), all of us here at QE have higher hopes for Ronin than any of the many other Miller projects that are coming so if my skepticism of White sounds unfair well, just chock it up to that.
