To many people, Stuart Gordon is "the legendary visionary who brought the world H.P. Lovecraft's Re-Animator and From Beyond" but, to us, he'll always be that "awesome director who gave us Fortress and one of the best post-apocalyptic giant robot flicks ever, Robot Jox!" But anyway, maybe that's just us... He also makes dark comedies like Stuck which, until this awesome red-band trailer dropped, we really hadn't been paying much attention to. Now however, we can see it for what it is; a twisted modern one-act and a macabre and claustrophobic thriller. Stuck is getting a limited release by ThinkFilm on May 30th. Check out the trailer after the break.

Synopsis: "Brandi (Mena Suvari) hits Tom (Stephen Rea) with her car on her way home from a night of partying. With Tom still alive but lodged through her windshield, she promises to go a hospital but then decides to leave Tom to die in her garage as she realizes that her future is inextricably tied to her victim. Realizing this plan, Tom knows escape is his only chance for survival."

I saw this at the deadbydawn film fest in Edinburgh. It's really good, it's really funny, it's really gory. Very Stuart Gordon but with slick direction and a tongue locked firmly in cheek. Great to see Mena Suvari in something decent again.

And Robot Jox rocks! I'm watching the sequel Crash and Burn tomorrow night (for better or for worse).

I remember reading about this in the paper years ago and thinking "someone has GOT to make a movie out of this..."
