Hal MacDermot [Celluloid 05.23.08] movie news drama fantasy

There's a buzz around the Internet over this curious trailer for director David Fincher's upcoming flick, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." The trailer is kind of dodgy and in Spanish, but it looks really interesting, kind of like The Prestige, and actually reminded me of the original Time Machine movie (1960). That might be related to the plot, which "tells the story of Benjamin Button, a man who starts aging backwards with bizarre consequences. Apparently the trailer is playing before Indiana Jones, but since my mate told me how naff Indy was, I probably won't see it on the big screen. Fincher is hooking up with Brad Pitt again on this one, along with one of my favorite actresses, the cute and smart Cate Blanchett. Jason Flemyng, Julia Ormand and Tilda Swinton are also in the mix. The story is based on a book by F. Scott Fitzgerald (Great Gatsby), and is due for release on December 19, 2008. Trailer after the break.
