I swear I'll never get tired of post apocalyptic zombie films, they are like my bread and butter, my peanut butter and jelly, my macaroni and cheese. Simply put, they're good all the time. Desolation has gone through some rewrites, but as the title states it's now in heavy pre-production and looking for a crew. Here's a synopsis: "In the near future, the Solanum Virus raged through the North American continents. Within weeks it had engulfed the entire planet, from small rural towns to the largest cities. The dead were being reanimated, and feeding on the flesh of the living. The virus was being transfered through Viral infection, spreading through bites from the infected. So begins our story into the dystopian world of Desolation." Check after the break for synopsis and further details.
Desolation takes place in a small town (Richland) in central Florida which is located about 30 miles away from Tampa. The focus of the film is more about the traumatic psychological effects on our characters during the first 48 hours of infection. The film will be shot 100% POV by the actors. Inspiration was drawn from Blair Witch Project.
Desolation is the original brain child of Martin Dunn and Chris Salgado, both Freelance writers. Martin is a huge Zombie enthusiast and pitched the idea to Chris. The 2 of them are funding the film 100% on credit.
The Film will follow Shane a 20 something comic book artist who just got his big break. He is preparing to move out to New York City and work for a major comic book company. He receives a video camera as a parting gift from his girl friend. As they head to the airport to catch his flight they encounter the first stages of there horror. They meet up with various survivors and recording everything in hopes of documenting what they believe to be an isolated incident. They are lured to a college radio station where the DJ is still broadcasting and telling everyone who can make it there to come. But the trek to the station is the true terror.
Stephen Houle (There is a house) is co-writing and Phillip Barrett (Shadow, Steel Curtain Films) Is doing editing and co-producing. Zack Finfrock (Pixpup.com) stars as the main Character Shane. We should be having some screen tests from our FX people up before the summer hits and hope to begin a October shooting schedule. This will be a feature film and is 100% independently made. We will be looking for more cast and crew soon and will also be searching for local bands for soundtrack and score.
