Feel free to counter our intelligence on this one folks but Jason Cuadrado's Tales of the Dead is currently being billed as "the first J-horror film shot entirely in America." Not only that, but this American made homage to J-horror takes the form of that Twilight Zone anthology format we're so fond of around here running as four separate and disturbing ghost stories - all dealing with revenge and loss from beyond the grave. I guess in his quest for authenticity, Cuadrado even used Japanese only talent recruited from around the Los Angeles area. Intrigued yet? Well, according to the horror hounds at Fango, the film will be getting its world premiere at HBO’s 2008 New York International Latino Film Festival on July 25th, so if you're in the area and are up for a little home grown J-horror than check it out and give us your thoughts.
