For all those who obsessively watched Voltron as a kid (like me), this is great news considering this project has been languishing for some time now. Word via Variety is that Fox-based New Regency is in turnaround and is in negotiations for funding, but they'll be looking for something a little more modest. Apparently they want to employ cost-saving techniques used in the likes of 300, which I hope means dope special effects. New Regency has picked up rights last summer (although this is apparently in dispute) and a script from Justin Marks which "is described as a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico, where five survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth's invaders." Sweet! Bring it on!

I could handle me some Voltron if it was PA. Once again, Marks seems to have the right idea. Now bring on Masters of the Universe
