I'd be lying if I said I was the biggest fan of Francis Lawrence's recent film version of I am Legend. For me, the film is just plagued by way too many little problems to get behind and everything from poorly handled FX work, to a deadpan one beat tone, to an ending that just didn't sit right, made the viewing experience less than stellar. I am, however, a very big fan of beautiful DVD sets, and this I am Legend Ultimate Edition being released by WB is certainly up my alley. If I really wanted to, I think I could rationalize my way into purchasing it even though I wasn't the film's biggest supporter. The set is skedded to street December 19th or, in other words, just in time for Christmas. Take a gander at what you'll find inside the box after the break.

According to the WB, the set will include two versions of the film, a Digital Copy of the theatrical version, plus hours of all new additional content. This additional content consists of four awesome animated comics, 12 never before seen deleted scenes with filmmaker commentary, and more than two hours of all new extras revealing Will Smith’s off-camera humor and kindness and explanation of how he grew as an actor through this film. Lastly, the UCE also includes an exclusive 44-page concept sketch book, a lenticular lucite commemorative piece featuring imagery from the film, and six collectible art cards showing international cities devastated by the virus.

I agree agentorange, for a movie that had the budget the fx of the mutants is subpar and the last thirty minutes of the movie was ill conceived...The box set does look great and i'm sure i'll add it to my PA collection too.

I see it differently. I see ridiculous excess... Like when they use five pounds of plastic to package a memory card. When you look closely at the picture, it's mostly just a box inside of a box inside of a box, etc... containing the same bad movie.

It's not a board game- don't be fooled.

What an absolutely useless DVD set. I'll stick with my 2-disc version, thanks, and skip all the worthless perdy drawrings and an extra interview or two.
