Talk of a remake of George Romero's The Crazies has been floating around for a while. Rogue Pictures originally had it but now its seems they have turned it over to Overture Films who will see it through with Romero as executive producer. According to Variety, Breck Eisner (who directed Shara ugh) is set to direct.

If you haven't yet seen The Crazies, the story revolves around people in a small Kansas town who are beset by a virus that causes insanity and death after a mysterious toxin contaminates the local water supply. This news also comes at an interesting time because it was only last week that I admitted in the forums that I had yet to see The Crazies (even though I own it) and was thinking of spinning it for Halloween this year. Guess now it's a done deal.

Oh wow, I didn't know that this was in the works. I always thought of this movie as a kind of proto-28 Days Later...though much more mild of course. It would be interesting to see what someone else's take on it will be.

Ok so it looks pretty cool but I am confused. Is it like that movie the signal? Like are they presumably govt guys in the hazmat suits being affected by the "disease" as well? Or are they some evil organization or what?
