If you're looking to win an argument about why remakes are actually better than sequels, look no further than the Friday the 13th franchise because it's one that really got dumb after a while. I think the ultimate test of whether or not a series of films is running out of steam is to ask yourself "did Leprechaun go there?" If the answer is "yes," then you need to stop making sequels. In Jason's case, they had to take him to space in Jason X (a la Leprechaun IV - Lost in Space) which is a surefire sign that its over.

It remains to be seen whether the visually astute Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder, Texas Chainsaw Massacre) can bring this classic 80s slasher series back from the dead, but I predict it'll at least be a boxoffice smash. What do you guys think?

I've been a huge fan and skeptic of the Friday franchise for years (I saw my first when I was only 6!!) I am excited for this remake. The teaser trailer leaves me begging for more and I will go in with optimistic eyes. I must say, however, that I know Kane Hodder (the best Jason EVER) was toying with the idea of a new script and I am sad this wasn't it. Who better to recreate the man behind the mask than, uh, the man behind the mask? I hope he sticks with it and we see more of Jason to come.
