There's been a lot of talk of the evils of green screen productions lately, in particular, Simon Hunter's The Mutant Chronicles seems to be continually labeled as a film that relies too heavily on computer generated landscapes and FX integration. Would it surprise you to learn that the majority of The Mutant Chronicles was actually conceived and built old school style?

Yep, Hunter and his uber talented crew used every trick in the book to create one of the most triking post apocalyptic scifi films we've seen in a while. Everything from model cityscapes, to full scale cannons, and steampunk ships were built while the creature FX and gore were primarily done practically (with some CG blood of course). We got our hands on some insider images and have compiled a massive gallery of concept art and behind the scenes images (as well as posters and such) of The Mutant Chronicles for you. Discover just how epic the production was. It's pretty darn rad.

Yeah, this is all very interesting (not really) but if anything, this just shows how low budget this film is and the fact that the artwork is a million or a billion times better than the film itself... that's not a good thing.

I just watched the film and loved it. I to thought it was full of expensive CG effects and I'm blown away that it was made on a shoestring budget by amazing, talented people.

Just shows what can be done, from taking a role-playing game and table-top wargame as the back drop to your story. The best Post Apocalyptic SteamPunk film I've seen in Years !
