quietearth [Celluloid 11.08.08] zombies movie news horror comedy

It's no secret that we here at Quiet Earth love zombie flicks, in fact I watched the Scottish flick The Dead Outside just last night, so instead of breaking this down into single pieces of news we're going to cover it all at once.

First off, Danny Leiner (Harold and Kumar go to White Castle) is attached to direct a script (The Corporate Zombie Killers) penned by James Biederman and John Plummer which was picked up by LA based Blowtorch. "The story tells of office temps battling a zombie outbreak in a corporate office park." There's no word on a start date, but the writers will be working alongside Leiner to develop the film.


Second is Silent Night, Zombie Night which is being done by Velvet Hammer films and begins shooting this December and supposedly it's getting fast tracked for an early 2009 theatrical release. "Director Sean Cain’s X-mas themed 'Zombie Night' has a creature outbreak trapping L.A.P.D. Officer Frank Talbot with his angry former partner and soon to be ex-wife." Not much more info available right now.

And finally the sequel to the Spanish zombie hit [REC] 2 starts shooting this Monday, November 10th in Barcelona. It brings back directors Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza and the story starts off just a few hours after the last film left off. Shooting will last 6 weeks and unfortunately that's all we've got.

Now you see why I combined all 3 films into one post! Zombies rule!
