agentorange [Celluloid 12.08.08] movie news scifi action

The art of Ashley Wood is well loved around these parts. His amazing post-modern comic series Robot vs. Zombies vs. Amazons was our first taste of his work but, since then, his massive tome World War Robot (WWR) has proven a massive success worldwide. He's also the mastermind behind the semi-regular comic series Popbot, which was optioned for film development way back in 2006 by Australian banner Resolution Independent.

According to RI, Popbot promises to put sex, humour, punk music screeching talking cats, more sex, giant f***ing robots, homicidal sexbots and t-shirt wearing-katana wielding-samurai bad ass motherf***ers back into Sci-Fi and onto the big screen! The company's plan is to produce the project 300-style so as to incorporate both animation and live action into the mix.

Sounds like a dream project to me. So what's been going on with Popbot since 2006? Well the production is officially in full swing as you can see from the behind the scenes shots we've got for you after the break. The team is making killbots like they're going outta style so lets cross our fingers and pray we hear more about this sweet looking project in the very near future.
