From Robert Moniot, director of the 2001 short Pearl Harbor II: Pearlmageddon comes a new spoof movie that looks to take on the apocalypse genre. Now I know what you're thinking; 'didn't we just see the release of Disaster Movie which was essentially the very same thing?' The short answer is yes, however 2012-ish: The Day The Earth Bent Over is reported to be a "smart, topical comedy in the tradition of Airplane, Young Frankenstein, and Blazing Saddles that will have audiences laughing at the end of the world" so it could be entirely better. Here's the film's synopsis:

A brilliant young scientist named Tom Mahoney fights to save the planet from a multitude of catastrophes that threaten mankind - in spite of the idiots that keep getting in his way: A bumbling President, a manic-depressive NASA shuttle commander, and a sexy reporter who can't keep her clothes on.

The film was originally called Armageddagain: The Day Before Tomorrow, but they obviously changed it to... realize synergies... with Emmerich's upcoming 2012. Meh, either way it sounds terrible. But hey, it's PA right, so we'll be sure to keep you updated.

2012 Parodies are great. With the myriad of apocalypse sites attempting to prey on fears and sell products and services that legitimize the media hype around the earth’s impending doom, it is refreshing to see sites of this nature which take a slightly different approach : http://geddongear.com
