It was reported a few months ago that Robert Sigl would be doing his first feature in 10 years having done a bit of tv (including the scifi show Lexx) and we've got a few more details on what sounds like a Caligula-style horror from the director himself. First off, Malcolm McDowell will be playing one of the principal roles in the film, with John Hubbard doing the casting. Oscar nominated special effects supervisor Ian Wingrove has signed on, and 3 time Oscar winning composer Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings, Silence of the Lambs) will be composing the soundtrack having been attracted by the quality of the script and the overall concept. A new pre-production start date will be announced soon which is estimated to be sometime this July. They're going for an Autumn shoot in Istanbul.

When his archaeologist sister is possessed by the spirit of a vengeful woman, a young doctor finds himself enmeshed in a revenge plot aimed at his father, the incarnation of an evil emperor.

I have heard that Howard Shore will compose the soundtrack. If so, this is sure to be epic.

The poster looks rad. It's so tiny though... I must find a bigger one :)

I'm back to report on my 2 minute escapades. Found a bigger poster including some dudes blog which he relates this image to the poster for a Jodorowsky film called "Fando Y lis".

The spider woman is almost the same. Same pose etc... Anyone know why?

The depicted spider woman is Arachne and actually an illustration by the famous 19th Century Printmaker Gustav Doré from his 1861 edition of Dante's Inferno.

the original print by doré has been tempered with though. some 3rd class photoshop hoodlum has thrown the hagia sophia (former mosque now museum in instanbul) in the background.

It's Istanbul, not Instanbul.

I wonder, wasn't that pic an inspiration for the spider walk sequence in The Exorcist?

It's not the hagia sophia in instanbul, moron. It's the Blue Mosque... in Istanbul.

It's really creepy, think i'll look around for that book. Cheers

I am sure the film will be creepy as hell. The whole thing doesn't sound like your average harmless PG-13-rated teen flick.

Sheeesh. A naked woman in front of a mosque that's gonna stir some controversy.
