Just to bring everyone up to speed, Red 5 Comics' action oriented PA comic "Afterburn" (reviewed here) was tapped to be adapted into a feature by Tobey Maguire's production company back in March of 2007. I am Legend producer Neil Moritz is also overseeing the project so yeah, this is going to be a big budget "Indiana Jones meets Mad Max" type affair.
Word is that now the film has found it's pen pusher - Into the Blue scribe Matt Johnson. Not entirely sure how I think about that but considering Into the Blue was also a treasure hunters type adventure story I suppose it makes sense. It would just be a shame if they leaned too much towards the adventure side of the film and made it into another Lost City Raiders which was a great concept that failed to deliver anything really new to the genre.
