While it remains to be seen whether, without Neil Marshall’s involvement, The Descent 2 can live up to its already classic predecessor, the tie to Eden Lake scribe, James Watkins, still gives me hope.

Distraught, confused, and half-wild with fear, Sarah Carter emerges alone from the Appalachian cave system where she encountered unspeakable terrors. Unable to plausibly explain to the authorities what happened - or why she's covered in her friends' blood - Sarah is forced back to the subterranean depths to help locate her five missing companions.

The first promo trailer has arrived on the scene and, while it’s still hard to conceive of the story continuing on after the way the first one ended, it looks like it could still be something of a fun underground horror romp with sort of an Aliens vibe.

Watch it while you can after the break.

At the premiere of 'Doomsday' Marshall said rather unequivocally that he has no involvement whatsoever... he got a bit huffy about the whole thing.

I agree that it's missing something. The original is great, this looks Direct 2 Video. She died in the original (better) version anyway.
