I've just finished watching this free net anime and I have to say it's quite stunning, both visually and in storyline. The story revolves around digging up old corrupted data records from the archives and how the world used to be green. It's quite dystopic.

Watch it in full after the break. via AHT

Am I the only one who thought that ending was slightly coufusing?

Does this comment thing have spoiler tags? I think I can explain it. The short film is about space colonization.

The title is kind of strange but also a play on words in a sense. The character for blue in Japanese is also used for pale and green. In Japanese you could say the trees look blue instead of green. But the title itself isn't written to mean this (As in it's meant to be said as Blue Cocoon). The color green/blue is mentioned and green is almost the only color you see in their monotone world. Sorry my grammar is poor.

It's set up to make you think they've built a huge artificial city/dome structure over Earth, but they're actually on the Moon and have forgotten all about Earth. I don't know what the point of the music video was though.

The girls grandmother may have been the pop star in the video. But I think it was either just place randomly or to show how the future lacks culture, song and vivid imagery. It [the music video] also talks about god and how the people fleeing to the moon felt he had abandoned them. But who knows.

The story shows the growing distance in the relationship between the two main characters and also poses the question of whether it is better to live in a happy ignorance or an uncomfortable reality. Very deep and it takes some analysis to understand, but this is definitely a masterpiece in my own eyes.
