Bad buh-buh-buh-biology: this was the comedy gods trembling as they blessed this one. A sure fire hit-or-miss, this film which looks to be overtly sickening ends up a pleasurable mixture of madness and "did they really just do that?" Yes, they did. Mutant sex organs, trashcan babies, flippant murder (er, actually that might be manslaughter) are just a few of the things you have to look forward to in cult director Frank Henenlotter's homage to, uh, something? Hell, I don't know, but it was alot more fun than it was disturbing.
Let's take a peek into our main character Jennifer's world: besides narrating the story (sometimes directly into the camera), she has 7 clitori (and maybe more inside) and lives in a continual state of excitement. Constantly looking for her next mate, her life revolves around sating what she calls her "divine" need. Even as a little girl, crossing her legs would cause multiple orgasms. She's like a lethal sex machine, mechanical as her gears constantly turn but psychotic in her emotional demeanor. She's fun but deadly: like shooting rats in a field of landmines.
Shades of humor splatter like the blood of one of her suitors as she bounces his head off the ground over, and over while she has an orgasm. Coming in the form of brief moments of lucidity in sheer madness or in the simple shock and awe of grotesquery, Bad Biology reads like an exorcism for a priest. But for the rest of us, it looks like hardcore porn, one with inappropriate objects or animals which you can't quite stop yourself from watching, but it really isn't. It's tamer then you think, and ultimately, hilarious!
But there's more, and I'm only telling you this as it's in the synopsis. For Jennifer's freakish nature, there's an equally sick individual on the other end of the spectrum: a man. While I'd like to tell you about his specific, uh, problem, I'll just say his situation is a bit more unsociable. When these two meet, pow! Right to the moon!
Two freaks intertwine in a story so smooth that directing doesn't even seem needed (or noticed) with lots of sex, black comedy, and a portfolio of pictures appropriately titled "f***face" (I loved that part). To boot, the film's soundtrack is heavy on the hip hop. Yes, it seems to have it all. Did I mention there's no need for CGI? Models and some stop motion are used in a low-tech fashion for a z-grade comedic effect. Yes, this is au natural baby, just like Jennifer's incessant hunger for your manhood. Watch out with that next chick, she might eat you post-coital just like a praying mantis.
