This is a pretty dodgy rumor so take it with a grain of salt until we can substantiate it further but we're hearing that some of the creative team behind HBO's ROME, and a yet unamed British TV company, are in the midst of developing some early Conan stories for the small screen. Here's the rub though. In order to do avoid getting sued by CPI, they're resorting to using public domain titles and will not be using the name "Conan" in any marketing. For example, the treatment for a 90 minute pilot is reportedly titled "Robert E Howard’s The Devil In Iron".

If done properly the mostly episodic Conan saga would work marvelously on the small screen. And, if it's true that a bunch of dudes from Rome are working on it then, well, this is certainly interesting news. We'll try to bring you more REH fans!
