Neil Marshall is my boy. The guy's not only into all the same movies as me but he's never let me down with his own output and Centurion couldn't sound any cooler. You just know it's going to be a brutal, hard edged, in-your-face adult Roman combat film.
I was under the impression that Centurion was getting made after Marshall's urban thriller Drive but with the release of this first image of actress Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) as "Etain" in furs on some snowy mountain it would appear that we'll be seeing historic mayhem sooner than expected. According to Empire who broke the pic, the film should be premiering sometime this year. Snap! Here's what Marshall had to say about the character who's out for revenge.
“Etain is kind of revenge incarnate. Her family were butchered by the Romans, she had her tongue cut out by the Romans, she’s had a hell of a time and she’s out for Roman blood."
So great to hear this is coming together. With any luck our gallery will grow quickly but for now it's only one pic. Check it large after the break.

Holy shit, according to the linked empire article Marshall have cast Michael Fassbender from HUNGER in the title role, as a CENTURION "stranded behind enemy lines". HUNGER has been such a extreme trip. This guy is the next Christian Bale. Can`t wait to see him in something like this.

totally agree. Fassbender is amazing. actually, i would love to see him side by side or even better opposite Bale at some point!

Whoa, this came out of nowhere. I've loved all of Marshalls movies and I love the Roman era. This will be epic.

This movie is strikingly similar in plot to a movie that was to be directed by Kevin Macdonald (Last King of Scotland.) It was to based off a 1954 novel called Eagle of the Ninth. Picts going up against Romans. But it never got off the ground and Centurion picked up the gladius.

Kevin is going to be shooting a film, similar, but original also, the films are only very loosely based around the 9th Legion. I think that Centurion will be a bit more harsh/gruesome unlike Kevin Macdonald's new film!
