Here's a new one for ya. Transsiberian and Session 9 director Brad Anderson is developing a new apocalyptic thriller called Vanishing on 7th Street which has one of the most original premises since plants killed us off in The Happening.

Following a mysterious blackout, most of the population vanishes into thin air. As the remaining survivors converge in a small tavern to figure out what happened, the darkness returns to claim them one by one.

Thanks to Bloody-Disgusting, who took it upon themselves to hunt down more details on the project we also know that two PA mainstays, John Leguizamo (The Happening, Land of the Dead) and Thandie Newton (2012) are confirmed casting.

Is there something in the concept itself that sounds dramatic different from THE EARTH DIES SCREAMING?

Sounds a lot like the YouTube series... I forget the name now but it was all CG/rendered stills with narration. It starts with a global blackout/apparent EMP that fries transformers and machinery, and as I recall large chunks of the population are just missing.

If you're asking what M-Night's up to now he's working on a live action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

and rek, that web series you're talking about was called "Afterworld"

It's very scary, I did coverage on the script. Unlike anything Anderson ever did.
