Courtesy of G4TV comes a new trailer for Shane Acketr's 9, and this one is way better then the original. It shows some of the backstory and apparently machines rebelled against humanity and theirs some great old news clips somewhat reminiscent of the Matrix but in a more steampunk fashion.

When 9 first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.

Absolutely stunning. I can't remember the last time I was so impressed by the looks of a big budget animated feature (no I've not been impressed by Pixar... ever).

The backstory stuff looked amazing too. Very War of the Worlds. I want to see THAT movie. I also liked the character montage at the end of the trailer. Good stuff.
