Posted under: movie news cyberpunk scifi animation foreign gallery

At this point I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like this is going to be a feature length film. I'm still waiting for details from our friend D'mooN over at Opium (who gave us the heads up) to provide further details, but I can tell you that the 50 stills and pieces of concept art we have are nothing short of stunning, sort of a mixture of scifi, cyberpunk, steampunk, and Shel Silverstein (see Where the Sidewalk Ends). From what I can gather, it's possibly post apocalyptic and is about the slums of the galaxy.

Summary of the original film:
Two humans (Dyadya Vova and Skripach) accidentally found themselves on another planet after pushing the wrong button on the strange device in the hand of an odd looking alien. Planet "Plyuk" in the galaxy "Kin-Dza-Dza" looks like a desert. All the aliens look exactly like humans, and can understand Russian, because they can read thoughts, their language is limited to a few words, however. The whole paradox of Plyuk is that their civilization is much more advanced than ours in time and space traveling, weaponry and so on, but totally barbarian in the social way. There is a special (and only) way to identify two groups of creatures (something like races) by pointing a little device on the person, green light - "Chitlanin" (good), orange - "Patsak" (bad). The most valued thing on the planet is matches. Dyadya Vova and Skripach, have a long and dangerous journey in order to get home..

UPDATE: Thanks to Cinema Beacon we know that this is indeed a feature length animated film being directed by the same director of the original, Georgi Daneliya. It will, however, be an updated version, in the same universe, with two new characters and new adventures although production might be frozen according to one of the animators as the film was originally slated for the end of this year. There are also clips from the film here and here. More as it comes!

Gallery and clip from the original film after the break.
