With everyone in the world covering the passing of Michael Jackson I wondered whether it was even worth mentioning here on QE. Then I remembered Captain EO, the long-lived 3D Disney attraction that was put together in 1986 by George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola and Michael Jackson and I thought, what the hell.

The 17 minute short, based on an original story by Lucas, was designed to showcase the best in special effects filmmaking, music, and annoying fuzzy creatures. It became a staple of the park and I'm sure many of you even witnessed it first hand. I never got a chance to see it but, as a Lucas fan, spent an extremely long time tracking a copy of it down. Of courae that was before the internet made it possible to find anything.

Synopsis:
Captain Eo and his rugged crew set out on a mission to deliver a special gift to a wicked queen who lives on a dark, desolate world. Getting there is half the fun, especially when the good captain starts boogying and the special effects start flying.

So, if you've got 20 minutes to spare and want to watch some weird, retro scifi while remembering the king of pop at the same time then we got you covered. I doubt we'll keep it up for more than a day though so get on it.

Wow, that was long ago. Saw it at Disneyland Paris. Cheesy but a good looking Wacko Jacko!

AgentOrange. Michael deserves the honor of the memories his talents & music have inspired.

It is sad that he's now gone, and half of what he's remembered for is his personal life and exploitation of him, or by him...depending on the view you share.

Truly he is someone who's genius, his life, his personal & public struggles where less understood than they should be.

With hope that in death Michael can finally rest with understanding, acceptance, and where there is peace.
