While looking through IMDB, I found that director Josh Crook actually wrote Rise of the Dead but the script is penned by Manny Perez and I'm eager to see this as it's set in both the Dominican Republic and Washington Heights (upper tip of Manhattan) where I lived for a few months.
Here's the synopsis off the facebook page:
"La Soga" is an edgy, action-drama, combining the gritty reality of movies like "City of God" and "Amores Perros." It is the personal journey of a brave man who risks everything to find justice, a visceral and gripping story of redemption that lays bare brutality and corruption.
