Piqued your interested? I bet it has, but no, Giraud isn't directing or writing. He's just involved in design work on this great looking project which apparently mixes animation, cutouts and straight CGI in with a heavy technicolor flare and it reminds me a bit of the style of John Bergin's From Inside. This is the first installment in a planned quadrilogy done almost entirely by director and animator G.B. Hajim out of Hawaii, and musician Shelley Doty. Also, it seems that Lucas Films will be helping them do the final sound mix which will also include existing music from Pink Floyd. Release is scheduled for some winter 2010. I'd tell you about the story, but you can read it below.

It’s the 29th century. We’re on Ganymede, one of Jupiter’s moons. The human race has long since left a decimated Earth. To survive the harsh climates of other planets and moons, humans have genetically modified themselves making skin color and sexual organs a common matter of fashion. Two beautiful musicians, Parker, a soulful saxophonist, and Naia, an impish guitarist, play center stage. They move almost as one, a seamless harmony developed over the years from the bonding and sharing in their struggle to get just this far in their careers. Unfortunately, fame is about to tear them apart. This is the last gig they will ever play together.

I just realized this was a movie I read about many many years back. Back even before I started keeping track on upcoming movies. I recognized the poster like it was something from my childhood. Weird. Nice to see the production lead somewhere.
