movie trailer news horror arthouse Before you pass this by saying "the trailer for this sucked", let me say that I agree with you. It doesn't show us much of anything, let alone highlight the reported twisted and sick nature of the film. But all that's changed as we've got three exclusive clips for this beauty that highlight just what you're looking for, BLOOD!
A dark secret connects Katze and Brauth, two middle aged men. Katze has the clue that his end is near. The two friends meet again after years to share their last days in the old house where everything happened a long time ago. With three girls they met on their way, the atmosphere begins to recur a second time. When Heinrich, and old artist, decides to attend after all, the riends have their last chance to renew and cut with the history and to settle an old score. In the melancholy of the near end, Katze passes again all the situations in his life. In the hour of death, he's not alony anymore. His body is gone and his soul stays back in the same place where his destiny and fulfillment occured.
NSFW clips after the break. The best one is easily #3.

Porn for sadists. Seriously, what's the point?
To each his own, I guess.

putting a dark, shadowy vignette in post on top of ur entire footage doesnt make it any more sinister or dark , it just shows u r goin for a cheap effect.

Can somebody please answer me why seeing somebody tortured is enjoyable?

A bunch of wannabe artsy perverts performing sleazy dreck. Gosh, how provocative you are...
Poor, poor crap. You want to break barriers? Any amateur handy-filmed violence footage is more provocative, shocking (and disgusting) than this artsy-fartsy crap.

These types of films are about anxiety. Some people seek this in the form of a rollercoaster. Others seek thrills from film. Watching someone being tortured is not something that I really "enjoy" but I like the tension that it makes me feel. There are different taste for everyone. It don't make it wrong if you do no harm. We can't all do good but we should at least do no harm. If you feel films like these are harmful then avoid them.

Well... Shock horror? Meh... Marian Dora manages to rake himself up there with other German masters, as Uwe Böll, Harry S. Morgan and Dino from Dino's Blaue movies. Artsy? It just shows that "art" and German still are not mixable. Wide shots, close ups of smoke, insects are by no means "Lynchian". Neither are cigars or sigarettes; it's a trend that was passé over 10 years ago. The special effects are weak, and were never convincing. This is not holding a mirror up to society, this is not art, this is a weak attempt at much of this, but nowhere the movie actually succeeded in leaving a mark. The animal cruelty is there, whether fake or not, but it is only there to add to shock value. A film that needs such imagery is by no means art. Been there, done that, noone cares... The dialogues are tedious, pseudophilosophical bullshit, and more wisdom is spewed from the rear ends of some actors, literary that is. Whereas Cannibal did have the tension, and struck me as near gutwrenching, this film would have held up even without being a true story. Melancholy Der Engel is the exact opposite, an attempt of a one hit wonder that tries to hold up some sort of reputation by feebly trying and masterfully failing. And as for people comparing this piece of shite to "A Serbian Film", the latter succeeds in it's intentions, that film holds up a mirror of how depraved human beings can be. This drivel just left me shrugging my shoulders, uttering a complete indifferent "meh"... Not worth the disc it was burnt on to...
