Formerly titled "The Alasness of Things", The Misforunates premiered at Cannes and will be playing at TIFF as part of the Vanguard lineup. Defined as a "vulgar", it's the story of a boy growing up in a useless, Eutortrash family, and we've been eagerly awaiting footage ever since reading the synopsis and seeing the naked biking teaser. I didn't know bad haircuts were so prevalent over there.. A Belgian film from Felix Van Groeningen.

13-year-old Gunther Strobbe grows up surrounded by alcohol, trash and his completely useless father and uncles. Slowly but surely, he’s being prepared for the same hapless life. Can he defy his destiny?

Trailer after the break.
