I don't know how I missed this one in the Locarno lineup, but after seeing the stunning black and white photography in this contemporary lesbian adaptation of Romeo and Juliet out of Sweden, I'm digging it. Directed by Simon Staho, this is arthouse fare all the way.
WARRIORS OF LOVE is a contemporary version of Romeo and Juliet's tragic romance about love and revenge. The film is about two lesbian girls who are forced to commit murder in order to save their love.

This seems so far more like "Heavenly Creatures", except they plan on killing the dad instead of the mom. In "Romeo & Juliet" they faked their own death to be together.
