Because it's just been an excruciatingly slow news day I thought it would be a good time to catch up on some interesting DAY ONE news we missed bringing you about a week ago. First off, in case you didn't already know, DAY ONE is an ambitious new, supernatural post-apocalyptse project by Jesse Alexander (Heroes, LOST, Alias).

We dropped the show's first trailer on the world back in July when it was still set to be a mid-season series. Now it would appear that DAY ONE has been re-worked to be a four part mini-series, similar to what SyFy did with Battlestar Galactica. The hope is that this "shock and awe" approach will create an event that will get people demanding more.

From DAY ONE creator Jesse Alexander's blog:

"Launching a new scripted series in prime-time on a broadcast network has never been more challenging.

For Day One to have the greatest chance of long term success, a new launch model was needed.

Working closely with NBC's creative team, I came up with something very exciting. We're taking the thirteen hours of story that was to be drawn out over as many weeks, and making four hours of spectacular entertainment. Showing it over two nights in a row. It's the miniseries model. A contained story. Easy to market and promote. Asking the audience to make a finite commitment: Show up at this time on these two nights and watch something incredible. If you like it, we will make more."

Whatever happens, I'm very much looking forward to seeing Day One and will be doing everything I can to get an early look at it and bring you all a review before January.

I'm starting to think this is a good move. From the trailer I'm not sure there's enough to the premise to make it last series-length without ridiculously stretching it out needlessly.

Hey, I know this was supposed to be a full series initially, but as is I'd also be looking forward to this mini-series "model" as well. I also think this is an O.K. move considering how they want to make visualization of this series before possibly making a continued full series out of it. Although, I do have to admit that this will still be interesting and demanding-type, so I believe that this new TV show will be a success. I know I'm only kind of new to NBC TV shows. But, I could definitely get the hang of it. Only time will tell. As well, this storyline does seem more interesting than most people might think ...
