trailer news fantasy On December 6 and 7, SyFy will premier their bizarre twist on Lewis Carol's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" called simply Alice. As someone who was immensely disappointed with what he saw in the first trailer for Tim Burton's bloated CG heavy 3D feature film, this parred down, modern 2-part mini-series is looking actually sort of fun.
I know that doesn't sound all that convincing but that's all I've got at this point. A lot of this extended trailer looks kind of cheap, but other parts (the one's that look like they were directed by Neveldine and Taylor) look sort of interesting. Don't know about the flying horse things though...
Synopsis:
Using the classic Lewis Carroll books Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass as a jumping off point, writer/director Nick Willing has created the modern-day story of Alice Hamilton, a fiercely independent twenty-something who suddenly finds herself on the other side of a looking glass. She is a stranger in an outlandish city of twisted towers and casinos built out of playing cards, all under the rule of a deliciously devilish Queen who's not very happy about Alice's arrival.
The mini is directed by Nick Willing who coincidently also directed a German made-for-tv version of Alice called Alice im Wunderland. he also directed three of four eps of Tin Man which I didn't much care for so it could go either way.
So what do you think? Still think Burton's got the best Alice on the block?

to me...it actually does. the other one is only the usual alice bullshit with burtons usual sauce on top. this looks more original and entertaining.

srsly- tin man was god awful.
thats all i'll say about this.

"fiercely independent", huh? Is she also outspoken? How about quirky?

LMAO at anonymous on "fiercely independent." The cliches are so ingrained it's hard to call them cliches. Formula, definitely.
The trailer looks kind of fun, though.

i think it looks gd n i luvd tin man so i'll watch it but i wouldnt say it looks better than burton cause even though the syfy one is funky n orignal cant bet a classic especially by tim buron!

I never understood why Tin Man was such a hit. It was goofy, over dramatic, baffling and utterly SyFy Channel. Burton's Alice may be over CGI'd, but at least he HOPEFULLY won't be distorting the story just to give it an originally craptastic new spin.

Well this Alice in Wonderland looks like it has a real clever spin on things for a change, Tim Burton's looks like its copying the older version but in a silly childrens story book way - and funnily enough, the older classic version was made by this Nick Willing so i'd say just because Burton is so typically famous - who says Willing's film won't be better?

just finished "Alice" i found it to be a brilliant creation. original and quirky. some parts were a bit forced but over all a unique adaptation. loved the mad hatter. and felt Alice was well played. Dr.Dee and Dr. Dum was such a bizarre twist to the originals, but so in line.

I just got done watching it, and I have to say, I was really quite impressed with it. The acting was actually well done, the effects compared to what we would normally see with a SyFy T.V film were extordinary. And the Hatter was great.
