Last year I had the opportunity to see Matthias Glasner's stunning The Free Will. A film of both immense and disturbing power, it left me shaken to the core and forced me to reconsider relationships and how men and women, particularly damaged ones, interact. Since the release of that film, Glasner has been keeping busy with television work but he's also wrapped work on a new film.

This Is Love stars Corinna Harfouch as Maggie, a woman who has lost faith in love. Chris (Jens Albinus) is a man who years before, rescued a nine year old girl named Jenjira (Duyen Pham) from a brothel in Saigon and brought her to Germany. Now Jenjira has disappeared and Chris and Maggie are working together to track down the missing girl but everything is not as kosher as it appears. Chris knows more about the disappearance than he's letting on. Amongst this mystery, Chris and Maggie begin to develop a romantic relationship which brings up painful memories for them both.

As with The Free Will, Glasner's new film sounds as though it will continue to push our expectations of relationships, romance and love while also providing a gorgeous film (the trailer features some stunning cinematography). I only hope it's not as difficult to watch as The Free Will; I'm not sure my psyche can handle another break of that magnitude.
