How far would you go to do your job? Would you kill?
Laura C. Lopez's feature film debut Acts of Mercy takes place in a 1970s Florida hospital and stars Aleksa Palladino as Maggie Collins, a young nurse more interested in helping those in need that feeling the rush that comes from working in the ER. Nurse Ruth Baker, played by Tovah Feldshuh, is her mentor, a woman who has seen more than her share of bad situations.
That's about as much as there is to go on when speaking of Lopez’s film. It’s not exactly clear what this thriller is about though I'd venture to guess someone dies, perhaps before their time and not completely on their own. The first teaser for the film has found its way online and it suggests a beautiful, moody film. I'm not sure what scares me more: the idea of a hospital in the 1970s or Tovah Feldshuh whose smile gives me the chills.
