First off, has anyone heard of the Terasem Movement? Because I can't decide if it's a real thing, or just part of an insanely elaborate viral marketing campaign for this new cyberpunk themed scifi indie. If it is indeed a real group of scientists who are trying to bring about the immortality of the human race by using either nanotechnology, cybernetics or by digitizing all of our states of being and blasting them into space in order that we should live in peace for eternity among the cosmos then I truly salute them. Good luck to you gentlemen.
Now, onto this extremely interesting looking movie which has somehow eluded us.
Apparently writer / director Richard Kroehling has put a lot of science behind this film (if it's real science that is) so while 2B might seem like a Pinocchio-esque fairy tale about a scientist who creates an innocent synthetic being, I'm sensing that it's also a treatise on the scientific possibilities that we should be striving for.
Synopsis:
When a murder is witnessed by millions around the world, society is forced to confront the moral issues raised by the creation of the first post-human.
Another reason I can't believe 2B has never crossed my desk is that it actually stars a great cast of some of my favorite indie actors. Kevin Corrigan, who I've liked since he played "Goon" in Vincent Gallo's Buffalo 66 and who has become a regular on TV shows like Fringe is in it, along with Chris McKinney, who PA fans will remember from the now defunct Jericho.
Anyway, check out the trailer after the break.
Learn more about the science behind 2B here.
