So what exactly is a "pre-apocalyptic" film, you ask? No idea. Really, every movie could be pre-apocalyptic couldn't it? Is the 40 Year old Virgin "pre-apocalyptic"? Alright so I'm being somewhat of a douche about this, but the news release from Bluebox regarding their new production, Impulse, which is "described as a pre-apocalyptic adventure" just confuses me.

We don't have a synopsis for the top-secret project, but we know that it stars Malcom in the Middle's Christopher Masterson and was shot in early November. The tagline on the poster however seems filled with mystery:

When the birds circle, the wind stops and the sirens sound, your time is up.

Bluebox Films is a production company based in Iowa and Los Angeles. Headed by filmmakers Scott Beck & Bryan Woods, it has produced five features and 13 shorts, which have garnered national attention through outlets such as MTV and Project Greenlight. Bluebox Films’ latest productions, including The Bride Wore Blood, University Heights and Her Summer, have been featured at festivals nationwide and have won numerous awards.

Don McKellar's Last Night, The Trigger Effect, and of course the original Mad Max, are pre-apoc movies that immediately come to mind.

Also would like to add Miracle Mile. The mother from Malcolm in the Middle, Jane Kaczmarek starred as a reporter in a made for TV preapocalyptic film about a meteor strike called Without Warning.

It should confuse you, like any of Beck and Woods' "work" as a pair of talentless wannabe Hollywood hacks.
