You know you've got a bonafide hit on your hands when those crazy inmates at The Asylum unleash a mockbuster based on your movie. Usually they're quick to release them into video stores simultaneously with the theatrical run of the real thing, but I guess they waited to see how Paranormal Activity did at the box office before deciding to cash in. And with PA recently breaking the $100 million mark in ticket sales I guess being better-late-than-never was a no-brainer.

One thing I'll say to Paranormal Entity's defense is that the poster is better. It's also the first Asylum flick in a long time that actually has my interest peaked. Could it be better than the original?

Synopsis:
Actual footage of the events leading to the 2008 "murder" of Samantha Finley. This DVD, released against the wishes of the authorities, proves that nothing human caused Samantha's death.

Paranormal Entity will street on 29 December, 2009

I still think Paranormal Activity is rubbish.

I call the original "Paranominal Activity," and it was rubbish.

Posted by: PopBunker.net | November 20, 2009 02:21:03 pm | permalink

It couldn't be any worse than the original.

Wow, to hell with all of you. P.A. is the scariest movie I've ever seen. And yes I've seen The Exorcist and it wasn't scary.

Posted by: director91 | November 23, 2009 07:33:44 pm | permalink

You don't gain credibility by calling The Exorcist not scary, guy above me...because it is. And Paranormal Activity wouldn't exist without it. I'd bet money that the makers of that movie are gigantic Exorcist fans.

I find haters of PA funny. Mainly because deep down they hate it because of its success more than anything. People generally don't like to see others succeed that much first time out the gate.

Posted by: Rick. | November 23, 2009 11:24:51 pm | permalink

Not trying to gain credibility, I watched Exorcist, it didn't scare me personally. If it scared you then that's great. It wasn't a bad movie though.

Paranormal activity is one of the least scary films ive ever seen, its just a load of rubbish :L

Posted by: James B | November 26, 2009 01:23:28 pm | permalink

Personally I love to see indie filmmakers stick it to the studios, but the reality is that Paranormal activity was not that good or so incredibly frightening. It's an okay low fi flick that plays better on DVD which is where it should clean up.

black peple are scary at night one knocked at my door last night and i looked thru the peephole i couldnt see anything.

well i thought paranormal activity was good and i didn't think the exorcist was scary at all

Posted by: Anonymous | December 14, 2009 11:31:54 am | permalink

The Exorcist Sucks!! I was yawning throughout the movie :D P.A was good, atleast looked real though i cant guarantee that its real. But thats what the audience want, and it was innovative in a sense or else why do you think it hit $100 million dollars sales, more than The Excorcist :P

Posted by: Anonymous | December 14, 2009 04:37:09 pm | permalink

The only let down of paranormal activity was that the theatrical version showed a different ending to the one I saw at screamfest, which had micah's body thrown at the cameras and katie having a demonic face before the end, which seemed much better than the version now released in cinemas in the UK

Posted by: Anonymous | December 14, 2009 07:18:23 pm | permalink

Exorcist is classic horror...CLASSIC is the word. PA had good acting, that's it. I've seen better "footage" on GHOSTHUNTERS. No way was I going to spend money to see it. Worth the download i guess, i'll do the same with this though...http://sharereactor.com/release/15798-paranormal-entity-2009.htm

i watched paranormal entity !!OMG the worste film i have seen in my life, from the start i just wanted to punch the sister ( sam ) right in the face because of her incredible sh*t acting skills she just pulls the same face all the way through, the mom is just as bad coudnt even shed one tear even though she was watching her daughter being dragged off a bed by nothing and when she did cry there was no tears just a stupid face she pulled, as for the brother ( camera man) he just stands around shouting his sisters name , this is just a cheap cheap cheap ripoff to paranormal activity you can tell whats going to happen before it does

0 out of 10 i hated this film
not even worth talking about but
i dont want none of you to waste your time
watching it

Posted by: nafen | December 15, 2009 12:01:45 pm | permalink

I really enjoy these type of films it allow the audience to connect with the story, The exorcist is a classic, your forgetting that films have changed and so has technology, at the time the exorcist was amazing, I do agree it hasn't aged well and looks dated just like a nightmare on elm street a remake of either of these film with a bit of care could also be great horror films. But i thought both Paranormal activity and entity were great, well thought out and nearly original because the style had been used before (Blair Witch).

Posted by: Jack | December 15, 2009 02:30:05 pm | permalink

Sounds like "nafen" is jealous they aren't working in movies themselves. Maybe you would be if you could spell, punctuate, or put together a proper sentence. No one takes you seriously when they can't understand a word you wrote due to your total lack of sufficient education. The girl who plays "Sam" has three degrees, and a long line of acting credits, so stick your foot in your mouth and lick that nasty thing, because you clearly no very little about acting, or just WRITING for that matter.

Is the movie PA real??!! or just another crap set up??

Posted by: Anonymous | December 18, 2009 02:13:00 am | permalink

PA isn't real. The actors are filming new stuff now. Also, PE isn't real either. Funny thing is at the very end where the credits should be it says all names and characters aren't real and any likeness is coincidental. Plus the actress in PE (Erin Marie Hogan)has a huge list of movies she's shooting next year. I also agree that PA was crap, but PE is better. Still not saying much about the movie. It's like saying this pile of dung covered in perfume is better than this pile without.

i do think that paranormal activity was the biggest load of poo if i ever saw one,i waited an hour for what?FOR WHAT?for the guy to leave the ouiji (or however you spell it) board and for the demon thing to set it on fire. :| <-that was my face when it happened.Paranormal entity is well better...you must be blind to see that.yeah the acting skills aren't very good...but the scares are ALOT better than P.A's.

And you know you secretly agree.

Posted by: Danielle | December 22, 2009 07:50:31 am | permalink

PA and PE is somehow the same ****. When i watched Pe, seems like im watching Pa all over again but there's nude in it haha :)) At first i thought Pe is real cause it says in the back of the movie case " WARNING: Actual crime scene footage." Then when i went to check online and saw Samantha Finley face book and **** doesn't look like anything to samantha from the movie. So i say FAIL!!!! >:|

Posted by: Nick | January 4, 2010 03:34:04 pm | permalink

We just watched PE, and my god what a bunch of crap!!! I am no film maker but I think i could have made a better movie with the camera on my blackberry. I am gonna demand a refund from the video store. leave the paranormal hunting to Zak and the ghost adventure guys, that is really freaky and I get to see a new show every week.

Posted by: Joey | January 4, 2010 11:52:11 pm | permalink

Also I wanted to add, I would like to know where they got their wood flooring, it sure is pretty, kinda grew fond of it after seeing it for 70 of the 85 minutes of the movie. Why is the camera pointed at the ground the whole time. I could go on for an hour ripping this crap, but instead, I am gonna kick the ladies ass at the video store for recommending this pile. have a great day and please dont waste your money and time on PE!!

P.A was if u saw the right one, the one on the internet and not on the DVD has a great ending but all together the moive wasent really scary.. the guy above me said the PE sucks but i have to find out for my self.

OK i am not trying to hate on anyone but at the end of P.A it did scare the crap out of me, i so did not expect that but it did. the beginning of P.A was boring but P.E from the whole time, it was some scary **** and i do believe that stuff happens because i have had some weird encounters with the dead.

How is 'Nafen' jealous? People, if you're going to make a point against someone else, let's try growing up and using debate tactics that aren't childish retorts like, "You can't spell" and "You're jealous." Use something that actually MATTERS.

Nafen just didn't like the film. Point blank. I'm pretty sure they don't care about getting into an industry.

Me?

Paranormal Entity is much, much scarier than Paranormal Activity simply BECAUSE of the demonic activity. However, without the nudity and the scare tactics, the movie would've bored the socks off me, and the fact that they're truly, truly making it a point to say it's real, turns me off even more, since PA actually claimed that it wasn't.

Paranormal Activity is actually very charming - the actors are funny and were believable, but unfortunately, that's all I watch the movie for - the fun characters.

In this movie? I unfortunately saw pretty much the same events, scenes, and plot-details that Paranormal Activity used, which is why I can't say it's better. It should've been more original instead of more exaggerated.

Paranormal Entity is basically Paranormal Activity remixed.

Both are slow in progression and take too long to get anything rolling, or are just simply long for no reason, but P.E. produces more scare when things DO get rolling, while P.A.'s only grand finale was the end of the movie. P.E. lacked good, charming, memorable acting, where PA didn't.

Either way, both films are over-hyped, but I'd have to go with PA. For some reason, I can watch it more than once, and even though the movie drags, I don't mind it so much because the acting isn't bad. I can only watch PE exactly once, because I'm not interested in going through all the boring, 'we're in distress, tear, tear' acting just to get to the point, even if it has better scare tactics.

Actually this paranormal activity is a steven speilberg product. He had oren peli (director) change the ending. That is why there are alternate endings. But not a bad film

I watched both i saw P.A. first and fort it was alryt scared me a little but fort the acting wernt great but it was more interestin that P.E. i fort the actin was **** didnt realy connect most of the film was the floor and i jus fort typical when the camara blured, the effects are better on P.A and i think both are over rated to but P.A was much much better maybe the fact that the end of P.E. was more crude and bit more graffic than just a man bein frown at a camra but the whole time i watched it i was finkin yea wers the scary bit gonna happen it drgged on if u ask me... also jus wanna comment on every1s comments it makes me lagh that some people get so defensive about peoples comments its a matter of opinion and the guy that was cussin coz sum1 cant spell its pretty clear that that it doesnt matter and no1 cares and a bit pathetic you jus made yourself seem like your head was stuck so far up your own POSH arse you forgt wat the point was and it isnt that fact that you have education haha wich dnt mean much im pretty sure wiv all your enducation u have no more space for commen sense in that brain of yours.. you shouldnt look down on people your not better then any1 who commented on this site your probably quite low down in that hyaracy or how ever you say it loool :D this was fun ....

P.A is not a true story micah and katie is alive... but P.E it is a true story but I think P.A is more sCatY Than P.E

Let Me Explain something! First of All You Guys are Probably Right, It is Probably Fake! But One thing You need To remember is This stuff Can Happen, There are such Things as Demons. And If You Taunt Them or Allow them to follow you home, They Can Bind To You and Make Your Life a Living Hell Literaly. That is What Makes Paranormal Activity, Paranormal Entity, And All Of The Exorcist Scary. No You Probably Didnt Get Scared When You Watched The Movie, But Stop And Think About it, It Can Happen, And it Happens To People Who Thinks it Cant, Because They Dont Believe, So Evil Entities, Will Prove themselves. Its time To Have Jesus in Your Life.

i sort of enjoyed paranormal entity its rather disturbing but a good horror, i really dont believe that paranormal entity is real family footage, i can not find any information of the finley family to prove they ever excisted on the internet, if there was such a case someone one would've remembered the headline as it is an abnormal fate that the family recieve, if anyone has a link to prove any of this please send it to my email address ashton.ov.cwmcave@hotmail.co.uk thanks x

Posted by: ashton | February 7, 2010 06:18:39 am | permalink

Both are very borring in the begging but that's because of importanted info they wanted to let known about family. From what I research they added a bunch of BS from true story that supposidly happened to someone else and added death and bs in it to make it loke scary. SUpposidly the tv turing on and other supernatural occurances are supposidly real but renactments. Does it matter it was interesting but my blood lust wasn't satasfied enough......tushee...I had better real life incubus paranormal activity happen to me....I made friends with my ghosts and made peace with my inner demons maybe you shoulld to?

I think there is some truth to the story itself but none of the footage is real. Its kinda like "The Exorcisom of Emily Rose" where that is based on a true story. So in a way these kinda things are pretty scary cuz yes it can happen to anyone at anytime. I do think that PE was better than PA as the story goes but the actors just sucked!

Both of those movies were "BADLY MADE" PA & PE!!! I only stayed interested because I thought just maybe it was real...I WAS WRONG!! of course...and for the EXORCIST "the best and will always be the best"!!! Not much compares to it and I have been waiting a very long time!! (AND IT IS REALLY BASED ON A TRUE STORY)!!

dudes(and dudesses), i just watched paranormal entity. it was an hour and a half of the best humour i have seen since the last three stoogies movie i saw. talk about low budget. summary of the movie; from the first scene on, the acting is diabolical by everyone, this is summed up by the fact that the only good 20 seconds of good acting was done by the son/brother,
who for 99% of the movie hid behind the camera. special effects; some guy hiding low behind a couch and kicking a table, a scary looking cross continuingly falling, on different nights (ooooooooooohhh), whole cost of special effects; a cheeseburger and a coke, no fries. whole story line: totally crud, this is summed up by the fact that at the beginning of the movie, we are told that the son was arrested for raping and killing his sister and the paranormal investigator, but then at the end, being told that sam was found in the arms of her brother, and that upon the news of the death of her children, ellen finlay took her own life. who made the emergency phone call if the brother died too? i thought he was arrested for the rape and murder of his sister! this script was not thought through (at all), and i could've did better for you tube. do yourself a favour and avoid this movie.

Uh hello people??? Have you not seen "The Entity"??? an actual movie with the same basic idea as paranormal entity only better because it IS a true story and even though it was made in the 70's? still looked more real than this one though I gotta say....this one was good enough to have me freaked out about driving back home...

Posted by: Me | June 1, 2010 10:35:06 pm | permalink

There were a few things that didn't add up in Paranormal activity! Not sure if I should state them here, might be too Spoiler-y but it just annoyed me!

People should stop saying how stupid they think The Exorcist was. When it first came out it was the scariest movie and all the creepy stuff we have now(walking down stairs, like in the Grudge) came from this movie first so it will always be considered the scariest movie.

The thing that the makers of Paranormal Entity seem not to realize is that is not easy to make a movie seem easy to make.
PE is terrible, nothing short of terrible. There are too many idiotic things about this movie to list. e.g., "It followed us." "Whaddya mean, it followed you?" "It came right into the room!" "Whaddya mean, it came into the room?" "It attacked your sister, it attacked Sam!" "Whaddya mean, it attacked Sam?" Prepare to suffer through this kind of dialogue throughout this movie. It features hysterical people screaming incessantly and running through a house, footprints on the ceiling that seem to keep replenishing themselves with more and more dirt, a ***** of a "man of the house" who seems to be wearing the camera on his head-- as he turns to look at something the camera turns too-- his heavy breathing into the microphone... this movie in total is a shameless ripoff of a movie that worked well. Unfortunately, these people seem to believe if you follow a formula, the film will work and they can grab a few bucks out of it before the public-at-large realizes how bad it is. It is awful. If you haven't seen it do NOT waste your time.
Another unfortunate thing is that if one sees this film and then the original of this genre, they'll both seem stupid because the viewer will approach PA with the cynicism that this film will evoke.
In a word--AWFUL.

I just watched PE and I was pleasantly surprised with it I can say it's way better then PA. I didn't like the sudden ending wish they'd show us more on how that happened but whatever.

I enjoyed the part when he was alone with it in the house that was truly scary and fun.

If women were afraid of PA they definitely be scared of PE I mean it's the RAPE GHOST lol. Ppl here bashing PE are insane it's not bad at all and way better then PA/

Posted by: Gonk | August 21, 2010 01:16:54 am | permalink

the script for the movie PE was thought out through correctly. look. After the cops found the body of sam in her brothers arm yeah..they arrested him for (raping and killing his sister) however. when he was let out he killed himself. then when the mom heard about her 2 children being murdered she took her own life. it was thought out correctly. you just didnt' get all your facts straight. so i personally thing PE was way better then PA. alot more jumpy and scary **** happened. i mean in PA sure... the whole thing hitting the wall and the lamp thing was scary but really? come on the whole chair moving and the bell moving and then the other bell getting ripped off. that **** was scary. this **** really happens. may not happen to you or anyone you know. but it really happens. now...um... the last exorcism. with that movie..don't even bother spending your money to see that. i saw it recently and sure some parts freaked me out but its one of those movies that leave you saying WTF! hope this is helpful. :)
