It’s been a while (nearly a year) since we’ve seen any updates on the Aussie genre film Road Train. At the time, all we knew was that the film was getting ready to head into production but a lot happens in a year including the dropping of a wicked looking trailer for the film.

To refresh your memory on the story:

Four young friends on a camping adventure in outback Australia are run off the road by a mystery road train - a massive three-trailer truck. With their own 4x4 wrecked and the road train stopped, the friends march off to remonstrate with the driver. But there is no one to be found. Suddenly, the silence is broken by the sound of gunshots. A distant figure screams and runs towards them. Are they witnesses to a murder? There’s no time to discuss it. The friends commandeer the road train. The next town is only three hours away. But the next town is somewhere they will never reach. What they discover inside the vehicle’s trailers proves more terrifying than anything out there on that lonely road.

The synopsis didn’t suggest it but the trailer channels both Blood Car and Duel. Not exactly the mix I was expecting but it works!

Trailer after the break.

Looks good. Reminds me of The Car mixed with Duel mixed with Maximum Overdrive (ugh) mixed with...oh well, you get the picture. Nice classic 70's feel to it.

Blood Car meets Duel sounds about right, but add a dash of Christine in there as well as this looks like the truck is somehow alive.

Love all three of those movies by the way.

I liked the idea of Blood Car but didn't enjoy the movie. Had some funny bits though.

Looks like Joy Ride and Wolf Creek.
