Not being a follower of the original Manga or Anime, I can only assume that the new Tekken live-action movie takes liberties. Saying that, it's got some pretty kick-ass action straight out of a 90s b-movie in it and, yep, it's even post-apocalyptic.
Synopsis:
The year is 2039. World Wars have destroyed much of civilization as we know it. The remaining territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations, the mightiest of which is Tekken.
In order to keep the masses down, Tekken sponsors the Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters compete to the death for ultimate glory and receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth.
The trailer for Tekken has appeared over at play.com (though I saw it this morning over at Twitch), where the DVD is also for sale.
Tekken is directed by Dwight H. Little and it stars Luke Goss, Gary Daniels and Cung Le.

And now we know why Roger Huerta and Cung Le are crawling back to the octagon. Wow, this looks horrible.

Exactly Lbj. Utter crap.

Oh sweet - he falls in love with that hot girl. I was hoping that would happen, so as to give his fight for vengeance more emotional weight. I wonder if he also gains the admiration and respect of some of the heartless fighter/killers he's in competition with, through his plucky reserve and can-do attitude...
That would be an amazing twist...

Okay, well at least they have got Bryan, Raven, and Eddie in there. However I don't see Steve or Hworang, my personal favorite characters. And of course they have Jin be the main character but one question, with him as the main character, where's his nemesis Hworang, and is he going to turn Devil form? If not, this movie will blow, it probably will anyway as with all other movies based on fighting games.
If people want to learn about Tekken they should just play the games, skip the first three and start with 4, that should give more than enough insight into the series. Besides, did they not learn after their ridiculously awful first adaptation? And that was anime so it was easy for them to get the hair right. This one is most likely going to be godawful.

hworang is in there but hes not his nemesis. his dead and granddad are his main foes.
steve is also there. the only two missing are king and paul. though king might be in there somewhere as a little surprise.
i dont think it looks too terrible. as good as a movie based on a fighting game can be.
a few nice shots and editing is ok. acting is bearable. i ll watch it!
