Christopher Webster [Celluloid 01.26.10] Uruguay movie news horror

The Silent House ("La Casa Muda") is a new horror film from Uruguay that's being billed as the "first horror film in one single continuous shot." To make things even more intriguing, the plot is apparently based on a "true story that happened some time ago in a small village." It takes place during the last seventy-eight minutes - second by second - of an event where a girl named Laura attempts to leave a haunted house unharmed. Yep, it looks as much like REC as it sounds, but you know what? It also looks pretty great.

Synopsis:
Laura and her father Wilson settle down in a cottage that seems to be off the beaten track in order to update it since its owner (will soon put the house up for sale. They will spend the night there in order to start the repairs the following morning. Everything seems to go smoothly until Laura hears a sound that comes from outside and gets louder and louder on the upper floor of the house. Wilson goes up to see what is going on while she remains downstairs on her own, waiting for her father to come down.

The first thing you'll notice in the trailer is the photography which is pretty crisp for night shooting. Apparently the film was filmed with a digital still camera and not a traditional video camera. Whatever's going on, it looks great.

Great idea, I can see this really working. One continuous shot could draw you right in as if it's real life, can't believe it hasn't been tried before!

it has been done before, there's even a film with four continuous shots on screen at one, and the audio just switches around ,it's called timecode i think,
