Christopher Webster [Celluloid 02.16.10] movie news scifi

Luc Besson is busy these days. His own Adèle Blanc-Sec is almost out of its post-production cage while he's hard at work on two other big scifi projects - an American remake of District 13 called Brick Mansion and a scifi prison-break movie set in space called Section 8.

Here's what io9 says about the project:

"Section 8 takes place in a prison orbiting 50 miles above the Earth, which houses 500 of the world's most dangerous criminals. Not only are these wrongdoers kept in orbit, they're also kept asleep by sophisticated technology - until they suddenly all wake up."

I imagine all hell breaks loose.

The movie is co-written by Besson and directors Stephen St. Leger and James Mather, who will make their feature directorial debut with the project.
